Outstanding Design Solutions for Your Kitchen

Kitchens are not just cooking equipment and cutlery storage; they are need to be much more than that.
The time regularly spent in them simply demands it, if perhaps personal aesthetics do not. Interior designers acknowledged this decades ago and kitchen design solutions keep improving and bringing something new and original throughout the time intriguing and somewhat surprising the users with design solutions time and time again.

Let us discuss some of the most outstanding ones currently available and increasingly sought after.

Storage Galore

Source

As it was mentioned before, storage is an important feature of any proper kitchen and there needs to be plenty of it if you wish your kitchen to be fully functional. Floor to ceiling solutions are increasingly popular these days. Bottom shelves are reserved for pots and pans while everything else can find its place in the upper section. Storing all kitchen appliances within cabinets will make the kitchen look significantly more organized and ample and leave the countertop clutter free.

Ample Lighting

Source

Kitchen is a place of action and the setting needs to be well lit. Having as much natural light as possible is always recommended. However, kitchen use does not have working hours and to make it fully functional, optimal artificial lighting solutions need to be provided. Central fixtures are less preferable since kitchen furniture specifics would create a lot of shadows. Wall mounted lights, led strips underneath the elements and countertop dedicated light source make every kitchen presentable, efficient and even unique in appearance.

Invisible Vacuuming

Source

Vacuuming is probably the second most frequent kitchen activity, right next to cooking and washing up. There probably is not a person in the world who does hate getting entangled in the power cable every time a vacuum cleaner is used. To forget about this hassle completely, go for the installed vacuuming system in the kitchen kickboard. All you need to do is turn it on when needed and sweep the dirt towards it. With no cables to get in your way, your vacuuming action is done in a matter of minutes.

The Ground You Walk on

Kitchen floors usually do not get the attention they deserve in the overall design idea. Linoleum floors, being practical and convenient are most frequently used. Thou they are practical, there are far better aesthetical solutions without jeopardizing any functionality.  Marble or stone walls will make a world of difference aesthetically and provide a sense of luxury as well. In a recent conversation with the people who own and operate Dial Up Plumbing, it was brought to my attention that floor changing is a great opportunity to check the plumbing that runs underneath is, so make sure you do.

Corner use

Source

Kitchen corners are often neglected spaces and they are usually left empty and unused. This can easily completely change, turning them into a somewhat center of attention. Carousel shelves often seen only at stores are a perfect corner solution, both aesthetically and functionally since they fit into any style design and immensely save space. Corner sinks are another way of making good use of corner space. The variety of designs available makes them easily applicable to any style preference.

Giving your kitchen the attention it deserves will turn it into both functional and eye catching space making the time spent there more inspiring and efficient. The very essence and true purpose of any kitchen, everyone will agree.

Can your kitchen be chic? Well, yes!

In addition to being a place where food is prepared, a kitchen can also tell a lot about the homeowner’s personal style and philosophy, and not only does he or she prefer LG or Samsung appliances. Your personality must be in the design and the functionability.

There are tricks and secrets how you can manipulate small details in your kitchen to make it really stand out. This is the list.

Outliving the Trends

Although the kitchen is often considered a pivotal room in the home, and it is definitely one of the busiest places, where all paths meet and crisscross, many homeowners do not want to risk and apply safe design features.

There is certainly a reason for that, as many a trendy look lives only for a couple of seasons and then it gets outdated. What you need are tips how to make your kitchen classy and elegant in a timeless fashion.

Creating Unique Look

If your kitchen benefits from a bar island, you definitely must have a couple of bar stools. They are made for function, but are neither seemly nor comfortable. Replace them with a set of comfortable wood and wire tall chairs that will create “unexpected within the expected” look.

In addition, you can use every surface available to create vignettes, making your kitchen one with a story behind it. You can use family heirlooms, figurines, photos, or ones found in thrift stores.

Impressive Coloration

These are not the fifties and the age of atomic kitchens. The glossy cabinet finishes are thing of the past. Rather than having everything bright and shiny, make a point by introducing dramatic mood of dark matte shades. It will definitely give your kitchen a more masculine, modern look. Another color scheme that fits into this philosophy is gold.

Golden light fixtures will introduce timeless luxury, and yet they are affordable. Have you thought about hanging a chandelier in the kitchen? A majestic crystal fixture sparkling and looming over a casual breakfast table is a sight to see.

Rustic vs. Industrial

Nothing can draw attention to details in your kitchen than interesting over-the-top fittings like simple and classy kitchen mixer taps. You can heat the water even more by replacing a standard sink faucet with a hanging restaurant one. The success is guaranteed.

You would not believe how these industrial style details match up with brick walls and exposed wooden beams. For all the construction work needed in achieving the wanted look for your kitchen, you can hire ACG Building to do the work for you. Also, if your kitchen can benefit from these turn-of-the-century elements, use them with all means.

Wallpapers and Mirrors

If the design and setup of your kitchen spacer does not allow you to cover a whole wall with wallpaper, you can create an even more interesting effect by lining a part of it, supplemented with lining a cabinet door or a kitchen drawer with the same wallpaper sampling.

This technique will make even the plain and mundane surfaces stand out and break the usual pattern. In the same way, adding mirrors to unexpected surfaces will make the kitchen livelier and as always create the impression of bigger space.

These real life kitchen transformations cost little and can change much. Make yours different from those run-of-the-mill kitchens you see at your neighbors’ homes, and the time spent redecorating will be rewarded.

Kitchen Design Tips and Guidelines

When you have to work on designing a kitchen for a new home, you would do well to be aware of certain small elements of the task that would make the design lasting and practical. Although more and more people spend many hours in the kitchen, you must remember that the kitchen should be in the first place, functional.

How can you do that? Well, we aim to explain that with the following guidelines:

Planning ahead of time

Planning a kitchen

When you have to work on designing a kitchen, you will need to make a combination of style and function, but this will take some doing and preparation, all depending on the nature of the furniture and room itself. Whether you think a U-shaped or an L-shaped counter will be a good idea or you fancy an island setup is entirely up to your preference, but in the long run you will need to be able to work there as much as enjoy its aesthetics.

Setting up storage areas

Kitchen Storage Ideas

One of the most common mistakes people make while they are still planning their kitchen is not figuring out enough space for storage in their initial design. Put the overhead cabinets closer to the ceiling instead of leaving any gaps that may collect dust and decide how your drawers and more will work for the pots and pans that will be around for a long time.

To make all of this work you may need an experienced handyman, so make sure you check the local handymen available in the area for electrical services, carpentry jobs and other solutions you will need in the process.

The importance of lighting

The importance of lighting

Much like all other rooms around a home, the kitchen will need ample lighting to ensure you will work without squinting. The last thing you want to do is handle a knife in a dim kitchen, right? This can be done in a number of ways, from an overhead light to ones directly over your counters for a more direct approach. This will make things a lot easier, especially when you need to deal with the mess left after cooking.

Power outlets

You will need to make sure you have the right power outlets close to your appliances, not to mention making sure enough of them are around to make using the kitchen easy. If you want the best potential results, you would do well to find an experienced handyman working on electrical services – avoid tackling the issue alone.

Spaces and surfaces

Spaces and surfaces

There is a need for space all around the counters of your kitchen, no matter how careful you may be to keep things in order. Cooking larger meals requires a lot of space to lay out ingredients, cut and prepare them and so forth, so you will need to make sure your space is more than sufficient to make things work well enough.

Making a fresh start

If you want to really make things work flawless, you may need to get rid of the older items in your kitchen in favor of better and more recent appliances. This is necessary not only for saving money but also for aesthetic purposes.

How to Design a Kitchen That Is Easier to Use and Clean

This is a guest post by Heather Roberts.

Having a good kitchen is paramount to making your cooking easier to handle and having a much more welcoming aesthetic you can enjoy there. The kitchen is often the social hub of your house and it needs to be welcoming, but it also needs functionality, so you better keep that in mind too.

This will take some work and prior planning, so the following tips aim to give you some pointers you can use to make it happen:

Making a better backsplash

Wallpaper and painted backsplashes tend to be quite beautiful, but they are also pretty horrible to clean. Since there will be plenty of sauces, grease droplets and more that will accumulate on it, you will need to clean them quite often. A tile or stainless steel backsplash would be much easier to deal with when doing kitchen cleaning, so you may want to choose that one instead.

The trash

No matter what we do, we will have plenty of trash to deal with at the end of a cooking spree, so you will need to have a clean and efficient way of dealing with it without making things a mess in the process. You need to have a place for it somewhere around the kitchen that is easy to reach, but it also happens to be out of sight for a discrete solution.

Choosing function over aesthetics

It may be a really tempting thing to make a kitchen that looks stunning, but the really amazing looks may sometimes be a real problem when you need to cook some serious food. Marble countertops, wood floors, soapstone sinks and more can all look pretty amazing, but cleaning them can be a real annoyance. Marble will scratch easily, while the rest can make cleaning really problematic, so you will need to choose hardy materials that are easier to deal with during kitchen cleaning.

Kitchen Design

Keeping the sinks easier to use

A soapstone sink may look pretty amazing, but it will not handle scalding, boiling hot water as the stone may crack under the heat. A good sink can be a wonderful addition to your kitchen space, but in the end it has to be easy to clean after you’re done using it. You can have a pair of sinks instead; one for preparing your food and another for dealing with any pots and pans. A spray nozzle will get the job done splendidly if you handle things.

Pull out shelving for space saving

Some pull-out attachments for your lower shelves will help make your cooking utensils and tools storage much easier by comparison. There is no need to have a lot of kitchen accessories if you can’t get to them when you need them.

Kitchen Interior Design

Seating Arrangements

You can hang out around the kitchen even during cooking, just like many other people can. You can deal with this by getting a set of comfortable chairs and ensuring you have ones that match your countertops or something similar at the same height. When you combine these two you will have a great chance to work things out in a perfect way.

1. Though there are different ways of improving the decor of your home, it is about time to realise the fact that "bold is beautiful" and resort to the liveliness and richness of this bold blue hue. The good thing is that you don't find any gloom and dullness in this shade, getting a totally royal and rich ambiance.

5. This year around, majority of interior decor experts agree that "Greige is new Gold". Beige? No! Gray? No again! Then what, is the question that must be resonating in your mind right now; well, you can refer to it as brownish gray or grayish brown (whatever appeases you!). Without any doubt, greige is the best of neutrals for 2015.

What makes this shade special is the warmth it oozes out without being too overwhelming, while still keeping the crispness alive. In fact, this is what enables it to help other elements around it really pop up.
