Rustic Bathroom – Style that Never Gets Old

It may come as a surprise to some that something we discarded and marked as forgotten forever, has succeeded to make a comeback.  This trend that recently sprang up and began dominating décor sections everywhere is called rustic, something old but with a new glow to it.

Rustic and vintage details began settling all around households, but somehow the idea of having ‘rusty’ bathroom is appealing to a lot of people. No wonder to it, as this way you give the impression of serenity and charm, but still manage to keep the room wonderfully modern.

If you are looking for a way to bring that rustic air to the room from the very first moment, you should consider changing the colour of your walls straightaway. Touch of burgundy, dusty blue, and brown will make the place look rustic straightaway.

Nevertheless, if you want to keep the walls white, you can still achieve the same effect by adding a touch of brown, for example adding a plank wall.  On the other hand, if you like to experiment with different colours, try painting your walls burgundy or blue, and add details made of brad or wrought iron.

Rustic wood storage

As mentioned before, wood is the most popular material to decorate your rustic bathroom with. It has the air of old even when it’s brand new and gives warmth to any room. All you have to do is carefully select rustic wooden items you want to bring in: old, almost broken chair, mirrors in wooden frames, wooden shelves…

You can even use old wooden ladders to make shelves, and you can even go as far as to get a rustic, wooden toilet paper holder. Several smaller wicker boxes put on the shelves will hold all of your things in without cluttering the space, and they will fit in perfectly.

Re-use old items

‘Rusty gold’ best describes items which would look best in your bathroom. You can find old tin buckets and sinks and use them as towel storage units. Old grandma’s saucepan can hold a plant which you can put up on a shelf to green up the place a bit and give it country-like look.

You can even pick up old, dry branches and small stones which you can use to decorate shelves and walls with. Old mirrors, old faucets, old vases – anything can look amazing in your bathroom if you only incorporate them in the right places.

Let light in

When it comes to lighting, it becomes a bit tricky: you don’t want to make it too bright since it will ruin the entire air of old era, but you don’t want to come in with a lit candle as well. The best solution is to put more light near the mirrors, that way even with two or three smaller light sources you will be able to light up the entire room.

If, on the other hand, you would like to keep it as genuine as possible, choose soft led lighting, like the one Industralight offers. Add lamps that look like lanterns – this way you will keep  the room looking like a sweet little, candle-lit cottage from a century ago, but make sure there is enough light for everyone to see themselves in the mirror.

Your bubble bath will be more enjoyable and relaxing if you take in your sweet rustic bathroom, surrounded by simple and charming details. Let your creative juices flow and allow your hidden talent for decorating to show just how wonderful your ideas are. Combine wood with glass, steel, and marble, and your boring old bathroom will be transformed into lovely rustic-modern gem.
